Antiques Roadshow fans were stunned when Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds made an appearance on the American version of the show for a promo
Antiques Roadshow viewers were surprised when Ryan Reynolds appeared on a recent episode of the American version.
The 45-year-old Deadpool actor tried to flog an article from Red Notice – a new Netflix movie.
He wanted to sell Cleopatra’s egg prop from the movie and posted a clip from the show on his Instagram to promote the success.
“I wish I had shot the red notice scene,” Hollywood star Ryan captioned his post.
Meanwhile, his fans went wild in the comments, with one person even calling it “the funniest thing” they’ve ever seen.
The hilarious promo video begins with Ryan sitting across from host Lark Mason, and he asks the actor to tell him about the egg that’s placed between them.
Lark asks, “And what is his family history?”
Ryan replies, “Well, no. It’s not a family heirloom – my family disowned me years ago. They don’t like me.
“But it’s more of an heirloom that my good friend at the museum lent me.”
Ryan then accidentally reveals that his friend doesn’t know he lent him the egg.
Lark then tells the star that the egg is one of three that were commissioned by the Egyptian queen Cleopatra at the end of her life in 30 BC.
“The German soldiers had taken him to a safe hiding place. And he remained there until recently,” he told Ryan.
He then confirms that the value of the egg is over $100 million.
Red Notice is the last film Ryan starred in, alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Galdot.
He recently revealed that Red Notice broke Netflix’s record for most views on the day of its release.
The film debuted on the streaming service on Friday, November 12.
Writing on Twitter, Reynolds said: ‘WOW #RedNotice is @Netflix the biggest opening day ever for a movie. Congratulations to this whole team!’
The film has Welsh subtitles after the actor bought the football team from Wrexham.
Wrexham AFC fan Danny Williams said: “Just watched the movie Red Notice, and see it has Welsh subtitles available on Netflix. Nice touch.
Reynolds plays notorious art thief, Nolan Booth, who teams up with FBI agent John Hartley, played by Johnson, in order to catch criminal, Sarah Black, who is played by Gadot.
