Doctor shot dead by unidentified people outside Delhi hospital | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old doctor was reportedly shot dead by unidentified men outside the RTR hospital here, police said on Tuesday. The resident doctor at Dwarka Hospital has been identified as Hemant and is currently undergoing treatment. He is declared out of danger, they said.
On Monday evening, the doctor was standing outside the hospital when unknown assailants arrived in a car, shot him and fled, police said.
Although residents and hospital guards attempted to arrest the accused, they fled soon after the incident, police said.
Personal enmity is believed to be behind the incident, police said, adding that all angles were being considered to determine the exact cause of the shooting.
Footage from CCTV cameras installed inside and outside hospital premises is being scanned to identify the suspects, police said.
The injured doctor’s statement will be recorded once he is declared fit, they said.
No arrests have been made so far and the defendants are on the run, police said.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Delhi Police said: “An incident of shooting a resident doctor has been reported at RTR Hospital, JP Kalan. The victim is undergoing treatment at the hospital and is stable. A case under attempted murder and weapons law has been registered and several teams have been formed to catch the culprits,” a senior police officer said.
