ESPN has scheduled a documentary on the legacy of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno for April 18.

E60 and ESPN released the first teaser trailer on Monday. “Paterno’s Legacy”, an upcoming documentary about Paterno’s life on and off the pitch.

ESPN said, “In what seemed like an instant, Penn State football icon Joe Paterno went from revered patriarch to reviled outcast. Now, 10 years after the Penn State sex abuse scandal, E60 takes a look at The Paterno Legacy.

The sex abuse scandal led to the jailing of former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky on 45 counts of child sexual abuse, and Paterno’s firing in November 2011.

Paterno, the winningest coach in college football history with 409 wins, died two months later on January 22, 2012.

Jay Paterno, Joe’s son and former Nittany Lion assistant coach, is among those interviewed for the documentary.

He said in the trailer, “I look at my father and I see a guy who is a revered patriarch… becoming a reviled outcast.
