A young girl has been left in a ‘pool of blood’ after being shot in the head with a BB gun while playing on a trampoline.

Lilly, 10, cried out in agony as blood began to ‘gut’ out of a ‘gaping hole’ in her head after the bullet slammed into her scalp.

Her father Ashley Parkes heard her screams and rushed into the back garden of their home in Gosport, Hants.

He discovered her holding her head with blood streaming down her hands as four thugs fled into a nearby field.

Lilly was rushed to Gosport War Memorial Hospital to have her wound stitched up and was ‘traumatized’ by the incident.

Mr Parkes, 32, is now appealing for all witnesses to the incident, which happened around 10am on Monday.

He said: “Lilly heard a loud noise and felt an impact in the back of her head. I heard her scream and ran into the garden where there was a pool of blood. She had a gaping hole in the head.

“I saw four teenagers running across the pitch. They obviously saw his head go up and down on the trampoline and took a chance.

“Fortunately, she wasn’t facing the pitch, otherwise she could have been hit in the eye.

“My daughter was lucky to escape. I don’t want to think about what could have happened.

“My wife and I are horrified that people are shooting someone, especially a child.

“If they’re willing to put a bullet in a child’s head, I can’t imagine what they would do to animals or other people.

“She is still traumatized and has not walked near the back door since it happened. She needed a bandage around her head where she had stitches.

“The hole was the size of a fingernail with blood gushing all over his hands.”

The police are investigating the incident.
