Harry Styles was part of One Direction, along with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. He is one of the most famous stars in the world

Harry Styles’ Journey From Boyband To World’s Biggest Popstar With Unforgettable Style

Picture the scene: It’s 2010 and a male singer has just beaten a boy band and a female singer in The X Factor finale.

What if someone had told you then that one of the people on that stage would be, in 12 years, one of the most famous, successful and coveted in the world, a pop star/a movie star/ a cultural icon with a nail, skin and clothing line to boot?

You would have been surprised, you wouldn’t have thought that Matt Cardle had it in him.

And if that someone had clarified that they were actually talking about the curly-haired one from One Direction, you sure would have had them laughing out of town.

Yet that is where we find ourselves now. The only way Harry Styles could be hotter right now is if he was physically on fire.

It all started in 2010

He’s like a magical combination of David Bowie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robbie Williams, in a sequin ball gown.

When One Direction broke you up…, sorry, “went on hiatus” in 2016, Harry signed a solo contract but Zayn or Liam were widely expected to be the band’s true success stories.

Harry’s self-titled debut album showed everyone just how wrong they were, topping the charts here, as well as in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United States.

His second Fine Line debuted at No. 1 in the US – with the single Watermelon Sugar which also earned him his first US chart.

The new album Harry’s House, released last week, should do even better.

The lead single, As It Was, became the most streamed song in 24 hours on Spotify. Now it’s poised to be the UK’s No. 1 album.

And let’s not forget Harry, the movie star.

After gaining acclaim for his role in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, later this year he has two huge films coming out. There’s a romantic drama My Policeman, starring Emma Corrin, this fall.

But first, there’s the psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh.

It was directed by LUCKY LUCKY Olivia Wilde, with whom he is now in a relationship. She goes through a messy split with the father of her two children, Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis, but Harry still comes in smelling the rose.

That the fittest man on the planet, who could surely have his pick of women, chose a partner 10 years his senior only adds to his impressive reputation.

Then there is the style of Harry Styles. In 2020, he became the first man to be an American Vogue cover star himself, and not just as a couple.

He wore a custom-made lace-trimmed Gucci ballgown and a tuxedo.

He also turned into a fashion icon

Instantly, the image became iconic – the gender-neutral bandage that became her trademark captured for posterity.

In the interview, he said, “When you take away ‘There’s men’s clothes and there’s women’s clothes’, once you remove all the barriers, obviously you open up the arena where you can I sometimes go to the stores and find myself looking at women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing.

“It’s like anything – anytime you put up barriers in your own life, you’re just limiting yourself.”

Such a high-profile public figure talking about it, dressing like that, breaking old, boring, tired stereotypes, is even more important than he probably realizes.

Harry Styles is every playground bully’s nightmare – he gives youngsters the confidence to be themselves, whatever it is. Conformity be damned.
