Lonely Castle in the Mirror trailer and key visual revealed

The upcoming film based on the award-winning novel has released its first official trailer!


A new trailer, key visual and cast members were revealed on Thursday for the upcoming Lonely castle in the mirror Animation Film. Although their roles are yet to be specified, Akiko Yajima (Pino – ErgoProxy), Anji Ikehata (debut), Ayaka Yoshimura (debut) and Karen Miyama (Koyuki Kazehana – Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in Snowland). The trailer also features the movie’s theme song titled “Merry-Go-Round” by vocalist Yuri. Pictures of Studio A-1 (Sword Art Online, 86 eighty-six) is in charge of the animation production for Lonely castle in the mirror which hits theaters across Japan on December 23.

Award-winning director Keiichi Hara (Colored, Miss Hokusai) will be in charge of the production of the film. Miho Maruo (dragonball) is in charge of the screenplay with Harumi Fuuki composing the music. Fuuki recently composed the film’s soundtrack Tunnel towards the summer, the exit of goodbye, which was released in September. Keigo Sasaki (Deleted, Seven capital sins) is handling character design for the film and will also direct as chief animation director. Hiromichi Itō (Seven capital sins) will oversee the film’s art as art director.

Toshiaki Aoshima and Yohei Miyawaki are the directors of photography. The two have worked together on numerous series in photography roles, including Kaguya-sama: Love is war, space brothers, Darling in the Franxxand Deleted. They were also part of the 2D work team for Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale as well. And more recently, Aoshima was the director of photography for Recoil of Lycoris while Miyawaki was in the same role but for the other original anime from A-1 Pictures Engage the kiss.

Ami Toma will play his first major voice acting role as the main character Kokoro. Aoi Miyazaki, who voiced Shoko Sano in the film, will join her as Kitajima-sensei in the film. Colored. Kumiko Asou will voice Kokoro’s mother in the movie. And while the first three just named are relatively new voice actresses, they will be joined by veteran Minami Takayama as Masamune. Roman Lonely Castle in the Mirror

The film is based on the award-winning novel created by Mizuki Tsujimura. Lonely castle in the mirror was published in 2017 and ended up winning the grand prize the same year at the King’s Brunch Book Prize Awards. Fast forward to 2018, the novel ended up winning the 2018 Japanese Booksellers Award and placed at the top davinci the magazine’s “Books of the Year” list. In 2021, American publisher Doubleday released the novel in English in 2021 while Erewhon released a hardcover version earlier this month.

In a quiet Tokyo neighborhood, seven teenagers wake up to find the mirrors in their bedroom are glowing.
With a simple touch, they are pulled from their solitary lives to a wondrous castle filled with spiral staircases, attentive portraits and twinkling chandeliers. In this new shrine, they are confronted with a set of clues leading to a hidden room where one of them will have a wish granted. But there is a catch: if they don’t leave the castle at five o’clock, they will be punished. Over time, a devastating truth emerges: only those who have the courage to share their stories will be saved.
