Sam Bird, who shot to fame after starring in the 2018 series of Love Island, surprised his fans and followers by announcing a secret wedding to girlfriend Kailah Casillas, which he shared on social media.

Love Island’s Sam Bird has married fellow reality TV star Kailah Casillas following a secret runaway.

Sam, who starred in the 2018 series of ITV2’s Love Island, tied the knot to The Challenge star Kailah in a ceremony in Gibraltar after popping the question to the former MTV star in 2020.

The former reality star revealed the news in a surprise Instagram post on Monday along with a video of their wedding.

“The new Mr & Mrs Bird. We got married in Gibraltar and vlogged the whole trip, link in bio to watch!” he captioned a short teaser clip of their intimate day.

Kailah, who changed her name on Instagram to Casillas-Bird, uploaded a photo of herself and her new husband and told her followers she was thrilled to be Sam’s wife.

“We fled! I never dreamed of having a big wedding, so we decided to take a trip to Gibraltar and do it in the most intimate way possible, just us. Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, @samrobertbird,” she wrote.

In the YouTube vlog, Sam explained that they “didn’t want a big wedding”, so they scoured the internet looking for a place to get married overseas in two weeks.

The couple had to choose between Denmark and Gibraltar, and opted for the latter, booking a company that could help them organize a ceremony in just 14 days.

“A few weeks later we packed our bags, spray tanned and headed to Girbaltar,” he said.

The video montage showed clips of them flying to the island, as well as a tired Kailah yawning in a taxi.

“As soon as we landed, it was straight to the registry office to hand over our lives, I mean documents, to get our marriage stamp of approval,” she joked.

“Technically, we’re going to be 80% married today,” Sam told his bride-to-be. “And then, 100% married tomorrow?”

“If I don’t change my mind, then yes,” Kailah joked.

She told viewers they woke up “full of nerves and tequila from the night before” but makeup artists and hairstylists were on hand to transform Kailah into a gorgeous bride.

The video then showed Sam and Kailah preparing to walk down the aisle together and sweetly captured the moment they exchanged personalized vows.

“I love your laugh, your smile and your loving, infectious personality,” he said, as Kailah cried.

“And in the words of my favorite movie, I’m so happy to be marrying you, so I can kiss you whenever I want,” she told Sam, quoting romantic drama Sweet Home Alabama.

The video then showed more behind-the-scenes footage of Sam and Kailah posing for photos together, as well as the couple officially getting married in front of a registrar.

“So we’re officially married,” Sam told the camera.

Kailah revealed Sam’s friend arrived ‘just in time’ to deliver his best man speeches, and the wedding after-party went off with a bang, as the couple drank champagne and danced the whole time. the night in their penthouse suite.
