OnePlus 10 Pro finally arrives in Ireland: find out when and how much it costs

Smartphone pioneer OnePlus has finally confirmed the Irish (and European) release of its highly anticipated OnePlus 10 Pro flagship handset.

The company had launched the phone in China in January with a second-generation Hasselblad Pro mode and a new 150-degree ultra-wide camera among the headline-grabbing features.

Now all this tech goodness is coming to Ireland next week.

Unlike previous versions of the OnePlus, when there were standard and Pro versions, this year there is only a Pro model.

OnePlus 10 Pro is available in two colors and two configurations.

The base model is only available in Volcanic Black, has 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, and costs €899. There is also a 256GB/12GB model which costs €999 and it comes in Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest colors.

Performance

The OnePlus 10 Pro will be powered by the latest high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

It comes preinstalled with OxygenOS 12.1 based on Android 12.

The company said that like all other OnePlus flagship devices, 10 Pro will receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates.

To display

The 10 Pro sports a 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display with LTPO, which means the phone can adjust its refresh rates to improve battery life.

The screen has a large size of 6.7 inches with QHD+ resolution.

It also has what the firm calls Dual Color Calibration. That means it’s been calibrated at two brightness levels – 500 nits and 100 nits.

The company said this translates to 50% better color accuracy when viewing in low light.

Ultra-fast charging

The handset supports Supervooc 80w wired charging and 50w wireless charging.

The 80W Supervooc charger, which comes in the box, can power up the phone in 32 minutes. It supports a feature called Smart Charge Protection designed to preserve battery health.

Wireless charging is also incredibly fast, with 50w Airvooc fully recharging the OnePlus 10 Pro in under an hour.

Cameras

OnePlus 10 Pro has a 48 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide and an 8 MP telephoto camera.

The camera system boasts an array of new features made possible through OnePlus’ unique partnership with legendary camera maker Hasselblad.

These include the OnePlus Billion Color solution and the second-generation Hasselblad Pro mode with RAW+.

OnePlus Billion Color Solution

The company said natural color calibration with Hasselblad on the OnePlus 10 Pro is applied to over a billion colors.

The company said the OnePlus 10 Pro captures photos with a 25% increase in DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and can process 64x more colors than its predecessor, the OnePlus 9 Pro.

And 10-bit color is supported on each of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s three rear cameras – the main, telephoto, and ultra-wide camera.

The company added that this will remove color banding from shots, resulting in smooth color transitions every time you press the camera’s shutter button.

Second-generation Hasselblad Pro mode

The second generation Hasselblad Pro mode supports a new enhanced RAW format called RAW+.

The company said it offers all the benefits of RAW capture with the smartphone’s computational photography elements.

This results in the highest quality photo files with greater dynamic range, noise reduction, etc., which allows users who love to edit their photos.

Hasselblad Pro mode is supported on its three rear cameras and allows each to capture 12-bit RAW photos with Hasselblad’s natural color solution.

OnePlus 10 Pro 150 degree ultra-wide camera

The new phone features an ultra-wide sensor offering a 150-degree field of view – up to four times wider than traditional ultra-wide cameras.

It supports a new fisheye mode that replicates the look of dedicated fisheye cameras and provides a new perspective when shooting.

The ultra-wide shooter also supports capturing photos in a more traditional 110-degree field of view, with AI distortion correction.

Movie mode

The new video mode allows you to adjust ISO, shutter speed, etc. before and during video capture.

It allows users to shoot in LOG format without a preset picture profile, giving videographers a blank canvas for editing.

Images captured in LOG format also offer greater dynamic range and more information in shadows and highlights.

OnePlus Buds Pro in Radiant Silver

The firm also unveiled a new OnePlus Buds Pro limited edition in Radiant Silver.

It takes all the amazing features of the classic OnePlus Buds Pro – like powerful noise cancellation up to 40dB paired with 11mm wide dynamic drivers – and delivers them in an eye-catching new colorway.
