Pete Davidson received a less than warm welcome at a basketball game in Syracuse, New York, after fans remembered he called the city “trash”.
The Saturday Night Live comedian, 28, jibed in downtown New York City three years ago after shooting a movie with Machine Gun Kelly.
Pete stepped into the stands of the Carrier Dome wearing a Syracuse University Orange men’s hat and a pair of sunglasses as he watched a college basketball game against the Louisville Cardinals.
As the game stalled in the first half, the jumbotron focused on the star who was booed roundly by the crowd.
Pete was seated next to Syracuse track and field fans and businessman Adam Weitsman, who took it upon himself to laugh at his pal’s public misfortune.
According to Syracuse.com reporter Mike Curtis, Pete later said he didn’t “hate” the city and confessed that his past comments “just didn’t come out in the best way.”
In 2018, after filming Big Time Teens in the City, Pete sat down with SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show. He said at the time, “Man, I was shooting this movie in Syracuse. Syracuse, you know, it’s trash.”
The Staten Island native continued, “Worse than Staten Island. The nicest hotel in Syracuse is, like, fucking Ramada.”
He then continued his remarks in 2019 following the filming of a music video in the city. In an on-camera interview with Variety, Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend said, “‘It sucks. The whole city of Syracuse is blowing.”
He alleged he was “hunted” by police while in town because law enforcement knows “nothing is going on there”.
Manlius City Police Capt. Kevin Schafer told Syracuse.com that Pete was indeed arrested in August 2018. He revealed that the star violated traffic laws and vehicles and said the City officials weren’t targeting anyone.
He added: “When we stop a vehicle, we don’t know who’s in it.”
Although Pete had planned to perform a concert in the city in 202, he pulled out days before the concert due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
However, it appeared he was trying to build bridges in 2021 as he shouted to the town wearing an SU sweatshirt on Saturday Night Live.
Earlier in the week, Pete was spotted with his new girlfriend at Jeff Bezos enjoying an intimate dinner.
The new couple were seen arriving at Jeff’s house, where they spent several hours in the company of the richest man in the world.
