Robert E. “Bob” Nein Jr., 76, of Tyrone, died Tuesday at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lewistown, the son of the late Robert E. Sr. and the late Rhoda M. (Nowark) Nein.

On October 12, 1968, in Hollidaysburg, he married Jean Carper, who survives.

Also survive are two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Mingle and Rhonda (Chip) Dillon, both of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Ryan Adam Meyers of Colorado, Michael C. Mingle and Ryleigh Dillon, both of Tyrone; and her beloved dog, Charlie.

Bob graduated in 1963 from Tyrone High School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served his country honorably. After the Coast Guard, he served in the US Army Reserves. He was employed by the Chicago Rivet and Machine Co. and after more than 40 years of service, Bob retired as the factory foreman.

He was a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church.

Bob was also a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and the Tyrone American Legion Howard Gardner Post 281, where he served as a former commander and member of Tyrone’s honor guard. He was also a Boy Scout troop master at Camp Anderson and a member of the TAHS Band Boosters.

He enjoyed golfing with his buddies, Pete and Freddy; and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Friends and family of Robert E. “Bob” E. Nein Jr. will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone; and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Holland officiating.
