Stranger Things could have a possible spinoff, the Netflix show’s creators have teased.

Fans of the popular show on the streaming service were devastated when co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer announced the show would end after the fifth season, but now they’ve teased the possibility of another series a day.

Stranger Things – which stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard and Winona Ryder – will kick off its fourth season next month, with the new series split into two thrilling installments.

But fans of the show might not have to worry too much about its future, at least one day anyway.

Speaking to SFX magazine, Matt said: “We’re going to feel like we still have a lot more gas left in the tank.

“But I think it’s better to end us wanting more. That’s why finishing at five felt like the right decision for us. We haven’t told anyone about our plans! Not even Netflix! We have ideas.”

Matt said he wouldn’t rule out the potential for a spinoff if the story felt right.

“As to whether we should do some sort of Stranger Things spin-off or sequel, for us the bar was always, ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the urge to do it? remake? ” he added.

“I want to feel the pull of, ‘God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.’ That’s why we pay attention to what it is and whether we go ahead or not.”

It comes after the show’s creators confirmed that the fourth season will be split into two parts – Volume 1, which will premiere on May 27, and then there will be a second volume, which will start airing five weeks later. no later than July 1.

“It’s been a while,” they wrote in an open letter they shared with fans, “With nine scripts, over eight hundred pages, nearly two years of filming, thousands of effects shots visuals and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding.”

They also announced that the fifth season of the show will be the last.

The duo added, “Seven years ago we planned the full story arc of Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted that the story would last four to five seasons. It turned out too long to be told in four but – as you will see for yourselves – we are now racing towards our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season, Season 5 will be the last.”
